Undergraduate Admissions
The University of Georgia recognizes the importance of valuing many types of diversity -- racial, ethnic, geographic, linguistic, and experiential -- and believes that a critical part of each student's education comes from learning from and with those with different backgrounds. Currently, 1,800 African-American students and a total of 4,700 multicultural students attend UGA. For full-time African-American freshmen, the average first to second year retention rate is 95%; this is one of the highest minority retention rates for a public university in the country. The University of Georgia is committed to achieving a campus environment representative of the world in which we live.
