Dominique A. Quarles, new director of diversity and inclusion
The Office of Institutional Diversity is pleased to announce the addition of Dominique A. Quarles as the director of diversity and inclusion, playing a lead role in carrying out the university’s commitment to diversity and inclusion for all members of the community. The Director provides consultation to campus constituencies in evaluating, designing and implementing institutional policies and practices to ensure diversity, equity and respect for all students, faculty, and staff.
“Institutionalizing diversity and inclusion is important work and I am honored to serve in such a capacity that directly impacts the way people experience the University of Georgia.” Quarles notes.
Quarles comes to the University of Georgia with several years of experience in higher education and in the University System of Georgia. Most recently, he served as the Assistant Director for Student Support Services at Georgia Southern University. There, he led efforts to ensure that first-generation college students, students from low-income backgrounds and students with disabilities were academically successful. Prior to that position, he was the Special Assistant to the Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
Quarles earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Master of Education in Higher Educational Administration from Georgia Southern University. He is currently completing a Doctor of Philosophy in Higher Education at the University of Georgia.
